A Gravel Grid That Keeps Stones in Place

Gravel looks great on day one. However, it soon starts to shift under feet, tyres and garden furniture. Before long, you’re left with bare patches, deep ruts and stones scattered across the lawn. The EuroGravel PLUS gravel grid solves this problem. Its hexagonal cells hold every stone in place, so your surface stays level and tidy all year round.

Weed Membrane Already Attached

Most gravel grids need a separate membrane laid underneath. In contrast, each EuroGravel PLUS panel has a weed control membrane fixed to the base. As a result, you save time on installation and weeds can’t push up from below. Better still, the membranes overlap as you lay the panels, which gives you double protection at every join.

Why Choose EuroGravel PLUS?

EuroGravel PLUS is one of the largest single-piece gravel grids available. Each panel covers 1.15m², so you can lay a large area quickly. Even so, the panels are light and easy to handle.

The honeycomb cells are strong enough to handle a car turning and braking. That makes the grid ideal for domestic driveways as well as garden paths. Garden chairs won’t sink, and wheelchairs, buggies and bikes roll smoothly across the surface.

Built for Irish Weather

Rain drains straight through both the grid and the membrane. Therefore, you won’t get puddles sitting on top of your gravel. What’s more, the panels and membrane are made from polypropylene, so they’re fully recyclable.

How to Install a Gravel Grid

First, prepare a firm, level base. For paths and decorative areas, a compacted layer of sand or gravel is usually enough. For driveways, however, you’ll need a proper sub-base of crushed stone, around 25cm deep for medium loads.

Next, spread a levelling layer of fine grit, 3–5cm deep. Then lay the panels on top, membrane side down. They sit side by side without any clips or connectors. If you need to fit around corners or edges, simply cut the panels with a hand saw or power saw.

Finally, fill the cells with gravel and add a further 2–3cm on top so the panels are hidden. Use gravel between 5mm and 25mm, or chippings between 5mm and 20mm.

Where to Use It

  • Gravel driveways
  • Garden paths and walkways
  • Patios and seating areas
  • Around sheds and garden buildings
  • Decorative gravel beds

FAQs

How many panels do I need?
Each panel covers 1.15m². Divide your total area by 1.15 and round up. Then add around 5–10% extra to allow for cuts. For example, a 20m² path needs 18 panels, plus one or two spare.

Can I drive on it?
Yes. EuroGravel PLUS is strong enough for everyday car use on a domestic driveway. The key is a solid, compacted sub-base underneath. For car parks or heavy vehicles, ask us about the heavier-duty EuroGravel PRO.

What gravel should I use?
Use gravel between 5mm and 25mm, or chippings between 5mm and 20mm. For driveways, choose a hard stone that won’t break down under traffic.

How much gravel will I need?
Plan for roughly 75kg of gravel per square metre. This fills the cells and gives a 2–3cm layer on top to hide the grid.

Do I need a separate weed membrane?
No. Each panel has a weed control membrane already attached to the underside.

Can I cut the panels?
Yes. A standard hand saw or power saw cuts them cleanly, so you can fit them around corners, edges and drains.

Can I lay it over my existing gravel driveway?
Yes, as long as the base underneath is firm and level. Rake back the existing gravel, level the surface, lay the panels, then refill.
