Description
A Colour Intensifier for Dark Natural Stone
Dark stone looks striking when it’s first laid. Over time, though, weather and foot traffic fade it to a dull grey. Stontex Colour Intensifier restores that deep, rich colour. It penetrates into the stone and brings out the natural tones and texture, giving a wet look that lasts. Better still, it does this without a glossy sheen, so your paving still looks natural.
Seals and Enhances in One Step
This isn’t a paint or a stain. Instead, it’s a penetrating sealer that works inside the stone. As well as enhancing the colour, it protects against common oil and water-based stains. So you get the visual lift and the protection in a single product.
Why Choose Stontex Colour Intensifier?
Wet look, no shine: It gives dark stone that freshly rained-on look without a plastic-like gloss.
Safe underfoot: It doesn’t change the texture or slip resistance of the stone, so your patio won’t become slippery.
Long-lasting colour: It’s UV resistant and won’t yellow over time.
Indoors and out: Use it on patios, paths, steps and cladding outside, or on dark stone floors and tiles inside.
Which Stone Is It For?
Stontex Colour Intensifier is designed for black and dark natural stone, such as black limestone and black granite. It’s ideal for dark paving and cladding that has faded over time.
However, it isn’t suitable for lighter stone, as the finish may wear unevenly and look patchy. It’s also not suitable for polished, glazed, ceramic or non-porous surfaces. For Indian sandstone, use our Stontex Indian Sandstone Sealer instead. For a natural matt finish on other stone, choose Stontex Rapid Dry Stone Sealer.
How to Apply Colour Intensifier
First, make sure the stone is clean and completely dry. Remove any old sealer with Stontex Power Stripper Plus, or clean the surface with our All In One Outdoor Cleaner. On new paving, wait at least 48 hours after installation.
Next, pour the intensifier into a paint tray and apply one generous coat with a short-pile roller. Then let it soak into the stone for at least 20 minutes. After that, buff any excess off the surface with an absorbent towel or cloth. Finally, keep the area dry for at least six hours, so pick a dry day.
Need a Second Coat?
If some areas look uneven the next day, where the stone has absorbed more in places, apply a second coat in the same way. This evens out the colour.

FAQs
How much do I need?
On porous stone such as limestone, one litre covers around 7m². On denser stone such as granite, it covers up to 10m². So a 5L tin covers roughly 35–50m², depending on your stone.
Will it make my patio look shiny?
No. It gives a wet look without the shine, so the stone keeps a natural appearance.
Will it make my paving slippery?
No. It doesn’t change the texture or slip resistance of the stone.
Can I use it on light-coloured stone?
We don’t recommend it. It’s designed for black and dark natural stone, and on lighter stone the finish may wear unevenly and look patchy. For Indian sandstone, use our Stontex Indian Sandstone Sealer instead.
Can I use it on porcelain?
No. It isn’t suitable for glazed, ceramic, polished or non-porous surfaces, as it can’t penetrate them.
How soon can I apply it to new paving?
Wait at least 48 hours after installation, and make sure the stone is clean and completely dry.
What if the colour looks patchy after one coat?
Very porous stone can absorb more in some areas. If it looks uneven the next day, simply apply a second coat to even out the colour.
